Final inspection cancelled AGAIN!

Don't ask, is the answer i would like to say when people ask how it is going with the house. We should have had a final inspection today. But last night it was cancelled. this was the second time. New time is now December 17th.

You can all guess why that has not been any updates on here for awhile.... nothing to update you on really.

I will put som new pictures below from the inside of the house but you all have to wait until the final inspection has been to see how it really looks.

It is close now, you can feel that, but it is not fun to be told time after time it will be done and then it is not.
The pictures below is from about a week ago, a lot to do, we know!!

This is the most exciting time ever :)

Now things are happening, and it is going quick. Well they better :) november 18 is the inspection. And after that they have a few days to fix whatever we find wrong.

At the ground floor the kitchen is nearly done, the floor in the kitchen is there, the tiles are done in the bathroom, the walls are painted, the fire place is in looking good.

At the top floor the master bed is looking wonderful it is according to me a really beautiful room and that view is still amazing. And what surprised us was how big the balcony is.

The rest of the rooms are painted and done nearly, the floor is there in most rooms. The relax is not tiled yet, but will soon be done.

We were there the other day with the new projectmanager from Myresjöhus for two hours getting through alot of things. And a few things that are wrong come up. It is good that it did now and not later when it might have been to late to fix.

Week 50 should be move in week :)

There is not much happening on the outside and we can not get inside so not many pictures to show you (so Charlie will be on here today).

The finish date has been moved forward and hopefully we will move in week 50, at least it is before christmas, going to be lovely to do ham and all other christmas food in a big, new clean kitchen : )

We were out there not long ago, looking in, the kitchen is there and the painter should be started and hopefully the tile guy will start next week.

Monday we will have water into the house. we have to choose what kind of lights we want outside and the color of the lights in the relax.

I think that is about the last decisions that have to be made before the keys is handed over.

Then of course starts the discussions about what carpets, curtains, how to do the garden but that sounds like real fun.

The journey until this point has been interesting, hard, educating, enoying, fun, a lot of different emotions and the wierd thing is i think i wouold do it again, there was a time when i would have said no way, but today when i see what come out of all that hard work it is amasing.

Progress and delays

There is happening quite alot at the house. As you can see on the picture above the balcony is taking shape.

What we do not know for sure at the moment is the moving in date. We just have to wait and see.

Last wednesday i was out to the house (me and Charlie) for a meeting with the new project manager, Jari the guy we have now is leaving, too bad he is a really good guy. I do have fait in Bo that he will land this as good :)

The meeting was about final decisions for tiles, wallpaper and paint. To make sure nothing goes wrong and that we all know whats happening. It was a good meeting and i think everything is going to be wonderful.

Got an email from the guy that sold the house to us that he has shown the drawings to another couple that really liked the design :) ain't that fun.

And for all of you that are interested how charlie is doing visit http://www.corneliuscharlie.blogspot.com/

New member in the house....

...Cornelius he will soon have his own blog, but for now i'll put some pictures on here.

Pictures House day 41-68

Now the pictures is on here to the right :)

We went out to the house today, we can not really see what they have done since last time. The electrician has been there done his job, the vacuum cleaner is beeing installed, when we were out with our builder last i saw they had forgot that.

The list with the tiles we want has been sent to the person who will put them up, he will calculate and see how much more we have to pay. I think its a bit late but i guess they know what they are doing. I still would like to have the opportunity to look for cheaper options and not delay the project.

So at the moment we can not see much difference, i guess things are being done but we just can't see them. Or atleast i do hope so.

The house is progressing ok, they have done some walls and the ceiling upstairs.

Downatairs the boysroom :) is starting to look good what do you all think, will a pooltable fit outside?

Pictures

The pictures are now on the right.

A strange thing we have not seen before is the cardboard they have put up underneath the roof. Some sort of wind protection it says. Is that suppose to stay there?

You can see it on the pictures below.

House day 16-30 slowly its taking shape

Not much has happend since the last time we were out there.

The roof is done, which is good. Looks really nice.

Inside they have started on the ceiling and some walls.

It is all progressing slow, but it is July and really nice out. It is just that they have to work hard the coming months to be done in time i think.

Not much to report at the moment. Have a look at the pictures ( will be here soon)

House day 12-15 digging in our self

(view from the bedroom)

The "kax" was still there after our weekend away. So it was just for the man of the house to put on a smile and dig in himself. Hard work it was, when i did my best to help. Bare in mind it is rock turned in to dust, the eye might fool you but it was really heavy.

Most of it is now moved to where it should have been at first. Maybe someday you will smile loking back at all the things thats gone wrong but at the moment I don't.

To the right is a few more pictures, like i already mentioned not much has happen as you can see on the roof pictures taken on the back of the house it is the same on the 10th like it is on the 15th.

We have water, but the rest is going slow day 4-11

Last wednesday we got water, a company drilled for water and again i am wondering what languege we are speaking because no one seems to understand.

When you drill for water you have to put all the"kax" (the stuff from the drilling) somewhere. We carefully explained where we want it, in the roundabout to even things out. No! they put it in the woods on our neighbours land. How can you misunderstand that. Abut 2 m3 heavy rockdust was put on the nieghbours land. So stupid. (see picture below)

The house is progressing slowly, i know they said they will work in july but it seems they work really slow. Not much has happen since we last went out. I did expect the roof to be done, but it is not.

I sound a bit negative now i know, but it does take a lot of strenght to understand how they work.

A good thing is that you slowly can see a house(!) amasing it is to see it grow.

Day 3, new guests and the mosquitos has arrived

These small guests have I seen a lot of

Day 3, not much has happend. They have started with the roof and thats about it. I have posted the photos at the normal place.

After mondays rain the mosquitos has arrived. In millions it felt like. Itching everywhere :)

Read a bit about mosquitos, there is 2 250 different kinds in Sweden, but just about 30 of them want your blood . Just 30, one is enough(!) They lay their eggs in water and when the females want something to bite they search for carbon dioxid.

Day 2

Went out there after work today. Arrived at about 10 to 7, they were still working.
The second floor is now up and they have started on the roof.

It has been sunny and hot today so i guess they have had time to work a bit quicker. And the forcast is sunny for the week so once again the weather on their side :)

Have finally booked the water guy for wednesday next week.

On the right are the pictures from today

Day 1, the house is here!!! : )

Finally, the house has arrived. Maybe some of you might think i am crazy but it was really cool to watch it take shape. A moment you might just have once in your life. Like a big puzzle. And of course putting the walls in place made me think it all went really quick. But i do think the rest of the journey will be as exiting. Watching the inside beeing built, tiles, walls, floor...

But everything was not "painfree" 6.45 the lorry person that is reloading (the lorries from the factory is too big to drive down the narrow roads) the house called and said his lorry was broke. And as all you that has been in Stockholm today know it has been raining a bit aswell :)

I was there 6.50 this morning to watch everything. It started with a small lorry that delivered the small things. At about 8 am some of the outside walls for the second floor arrived. at 9.25 the downstairs walls was there. I know i have been asking if they know what they are doing when everything has been delayed, but today it was nice seeing they do know how to build a house, it is the way there that has been a bit back and forth.

When the rain come i did thank my lucky star that there was a house on the land already. I sat there and watched it from the window .

At about 2 pm i left. I couldn't be outside because of the rain. Went back at about 5 pm. They had put the ceiling in and started with the second floor. You can see everything on the pictures at the link to the right and a few below.

New delivery date set. Won't believe it until we see it

(click on the picture to enlarge)

Finally there is movement we can see. And it is so interesting watching how it slowly progress.

The weather has been on our side for this project. But sometimes it would be easier to blame the weather for the delays and not the people that do this so many times every year. No need to go on about that is it. But i am still really surprised how things has been handled a long the way.

June 30th is the new date for the house beeing deliverd. Will that be the date? We'll see. Until i see it with my own eyes i will not believe it. That is the third (!) date.

Below you can see the front of the house (garden). What should be done with that? If you have any ideas please let us know. It might be a brickwall with stairs coming down. Or a grassed slope. Guess that is something that has to grow on you. There will be time do decide though, move in is late november and that gives us about five months before the sun will come out an warm everything up again.

Foundation and new neighbours :)

Finally!!! The foundation is taking shape. But still everything takes two steps forward and one back. I have though said we've to think positive so the positive thought is: They have started!!

A few pictures will be in this post, on the right you can click to see the rest.

So after arguments, difference of opinions and a few other arguments and angry faces it ended up that the company we had an offer from in january to do the foundation but Myresjöhus said no, they have their own people, are now doing the foundation for Myresjöhus and we are paying the markup for 12%. If it right or wrong can be discussed.

Today was the third day of foundationwork. They have dug out all dirt and put down some of the 400 ton gravel that is going in there.

There has been a few discussions back and forth about the roundabout. It is at the moment a bit small , so they have made it wider in the beginning, we can't really say at the moment if it will be good or not before the big rock in one of the "corners" is taken away.

The new neighbours for the summer has arrived and agreed to be published here with a photo

Keep calm no matter what

I have not much left over for how builders think. If they even do that.

It is now Wednesday week 21, you that are following our blog know that the house is arriving week 23. We still have not got a foundation. And i don't think you need to be a builder to understand that something is not really adding up. I have been on the phone trying to find out what is going on, and all of sudden we get a mail with additional costs. (??)
And they then have the nerve to take 150 kr more / t gravel.

We were out on the land moday night, it is so lovely out there, green and quiet. You do not want to leave.

It is fun though how much building a house affects you in the way you read papers and watch tv. There is always a nice sofa, a better bath or something else you just have to find out what cost or where to buy.

I do hope my posts in the future will be about happy things or at least something nice.

Soon we'll see water :) no sight of foundation :(

Today I booked the guy that will make water appear. Week 21 he will start and finish.

The thing that at the moment is starting to make me more and more irritated is that we still have no news about foundation. I have got it confirmed that the house still will arrive in week 23, but when will the foundation be done? It is just 24 (!) days to week 23.

Now it is the end of week 19. Is it aloud to be as stressed as i am right now.

What we can be glad about and enjoy is the lovely sunshine we have. It is so nice and it makes it hard to sit inside all day long working.
Hope it will be as nice this weekend, maybe a trip to the land :)

Finally some information

I become a bit irritated, open my mail at work today and wrote an email with a few carefully chosen words, not too angry just to say how we think things are going.

Two minutes later it says pling and i got an answer : ) Monday he is meeting the foundation people at the land.
Why was it so hard to send a mail eralier and say that?
I might be a bit over the top with the fact i want to be informed about things, i want to know what happens. I do not in the end want to stand there and get: i was not informed, thrown in my face together with a invoice for work that has gone wrong.

I have to say, i am not the biggest football fan (the man of the house is) but i must say the Chelsea-Liverpool game wednesday was a great entertainment for a Valborgcelebration :)

What to do?

It is now week 18, week 23 we have an agreement that the house will be delivered.

They have not yet signed with anyone to do the foundation. Don't you all think with all right that I soon can start to be a bit irritaded. Just a tiny bit :) this will soon go over to an angry reaction that the people we have paid to do this won't do their job to our standard. Or to a standard you could expect with the amount of money that are involved.
Maybe it is not fair to think like that, i don't know.

Anyone that have experince of slow workers and prmises broken? : )
Maybe that is a rule in this business and just an exeption if it actually goes as planned.

Have a lovely Valborg everyone!

As time goes by...

... we at this moment are just waiting.
We have not yet got a date for when the house will come. But more important, and what is annoying us a bit is that we do not know when the work with the foundation will start and more important we don't even know who is doing it. We are hoping for the company that did the road. Cause we are so pleased with that.

Hope something happens soon :)

The spring has arrived!

The swedish spring is finally here and i hope it will stay. Make the trees and grass green. The birds singing (listen to the video below). It is so lovely.

We went to the land today and it so nice you wish the house was there. You do not want to leave days like this.

Then we went into the city. These days you do think Stockholm is wonderful (below it is a few pitures from that aswell)Everyone seems to have put their sunglasses on and decided to sit in the sun. It is like when the bears wake up and go out from their hibernation.

Final inspection, date is set : )

Today we were at Myresjöhus to go through everything, contract, drawings all additional orders.
Two hours of interesting and good information it was. A few things they had missed that had to be changed. It seems more real for every day that goes by.

The final inspection of the house is set to November 28, 2008. So it is possible it could be sooner. So exciting! But not yet a date for the deliver of the house.

The person that will be our main contact seems to be a guy that knows what he is doing, so we feel confident it will work out good.

A few of the things that now has to be done.

* sign contract for the water
* go through all the sockets that are placed on the outside walls, see if they are where we want them to be
* read the contract and look at the drawings again see that all is ok

I must say i enjoy reading everything on vibyggerhus.se alot of good advice and things to look out for.

We have a road!!

Before:

After:

It feels really good to get back to the land and see that things are happening. And they have done such a good job.

If I have to find something negative it is that we have to use explosives, you see on what on the second picture below in the slideshow. Was not such a big surprise, but we hoped it should not be necessary.

Tomorrow friday we are going to meet the house builders for the final meeting befor the house is delivered. A lot of questions have been written down to make sure nothing is forgotten.

Due to the amount of time it takes to load this blog i have moved the pictures to the links on the right hand side.

Roadworks day 3-10

All this with the road was too much so we decided to take a break... :) not really, it is still fun and exiting, but we had a holiday planned so a week away from the mud to sunny England.

We have been all over it feels like, Deal, Doncaster, Canterbury (went on a historic boatride, lovely old town), Ramsgate to name a few. And also passing through a few small villages, in the search for a perfect pub :) Stodmarch, Fordwich, Ash and some others. Found a vineyard with great english wine.

We had great weather most days, had our english breakfast, fish and chips and a lovley roast. Can't complain about the food nor the drinks :)

But a week is just a week, back to the mud and they have done a great job with the road.

Below you can see a few of the photos we took

Roadworks continue

Today it was the second day on the land with all digging and taking down trees, it is so much fun to see it progress and it is doing that quite quickly.

Some decisions to make, such as where to put the big rocks they have dug up. Suggestions?

Today it was not the nice weather we had saturday, but it can't always be sunshine, just hope it won't come snow and make the work slow down.

Due to the amount of time it takes to load this blog i have moved the pictures to the links on the right hand side.

Monday, April 07, 2008

And now it has started : )

Today was the day they started with all the work for the road and taking down the trees. And they had done quite a bit when we went out to have a look today.

It is so exciting to see that it is finally happening something on the land.

Below you can see the pictures from today

The wildlife

Today on the land we talked to one of the neighbours about what kind of animals he has seen out there.

We could see alot of ants nests, spiders and a few dead frogs on the road. But this is what makes the land so much more, you get the peace and quiet and live near the nature.

Deers, but that we knew, have seen a few going out there

photo: wikipedia.se

Green woodpecker, it was quite big holes in the ants nests and he thought it be that or..

photo: wikipedia.se

...badger could be the one eating the ants

photo :wikipedia.se

He also said that some people had seen swine, but he had not so we don't know

photo: wikipedia.se

They have seen a few elks, he said that a few years ago a elk cow had to be killed cause she was really tame and came right up to the houses, and destroyed things

Photo: wikipedia.se

And Monday April 7th it starts !!!

Yesterday the contract with the company that will do the road and take down the trees was signed and after that we all went down to the land to meet the guy that will actually do the work. They are all really good guys that we feel trust in, which is important when it is a big project.

Today, a lovely sunny April day, we went out to the land to mark the trees we want taken down and then we inspected and took pictures of the road that goes out to the land. It is a small community so we are all responsible for the condition of the road. Any damaged has to be paid by all of us that use the road so when all the heavy lorrys will be driving to the land we have to be sure who causes the damage.

Like i said before it is alot of different things to think about. But we still think it is fun and interesting : )

Due to the amount of time it takes to load this blog i have moved the pictures to the links on the right hand side.
